Sep 17, 2018 #MarketMonday w/ Brian Splitt Can Tariffs get Tariff-ier w/China?
Delaney is currently traveling through the Emerald Isle, Ireland, for a visit to the National Ploughing Championship and Farm Show, so it's just Mike on the podcast today. Hopefully, we'll have an update from Delaney tomorrow and perhaps a wee bit 'o the Irish will be on the podcast. In the meantime, the additional $200billion of tariffs on Chinese goods still looks like it will be put in to place, so I chatted with Brian Splitt from Allendale about what this might mean for the soybean market in particular. We also talk about how harvest is shaping up and how growers might be able to best utilize their bin space. Also, lots of news stories are being published about Hurricane Florence's impact on the hog industry in North Carolina - Mike talks through one of the stories, but after the podcast was recorded, North Carolina Pork Producers issued a statement saying that no manure lagoons have 'overtopped', or released manure due to flooding. It's sad to see the media pushing this particular type of 'fake news'.
